The EarthCheck Program is used by more travel and tourism organisations than any other around the world. It validates the carbon claims of the largest accommodation providers on the planet and guides them in their sustainability initiatives.

If you think sustainability initiatives are only affordable for large organisations, then it's time to think again. For just a little more than the cost of a cup of coffee per day, your organisation can leverage EarthCheck’s science-based technology to increase operational efficiencies, maximise guest experience, minimize environmental impacts and improve bottom line performance.

Jon Dee's Asks: Where are the Leaders who Understand Climate Science?

Most people’s first exposure to climate science was when they saw Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. Gore took a topic that was beyond most people’s comprehension and made it easy to understand.

Back in 1988, however, it was a different politician who put the science of climate change firmly on the global agenda. Unbeknownst to many people, that person was Margaret Thatcher.

Like Gore, Thatcher was able to get the information across in a way that was easy to understand. Unlike many of today’s climate deniers, her scientific expertise enabled her to understand the science of climate change.

In 1989 Thatcher addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations solely about the need for nations to join together in tackling climate change. 20 years after that speech, the world is still lacking a political leader who has enough scientific understanding to tackle the climate deniers head on.

If you ever come across someone who denies the science, tell them to visit the Margaret Thatcher Foundation web site and read Thatcher’s many speeches on climate change. Even if you disagree with her political outlook, her words on climate change have a timeless resonance and strength that are as powerful today as they were over twenty years ago.
